Celebrated Halifax artist Yolanda Poplawska has created twenty-six distinctly Haligonian scenes to accompany the letters of the alphabet.
Only in Halifax does "A" stand for anchor, "E" for explosion, and "T" for tugboat.
Children will be enchanted by Yolanda's colourful and contemporary illustrations, which depict locales such as the gazebo at the Public Gardens, the lighthouse at McNabs' Island, buskers juggling on the waterfront, rowing on Lake Banook, and many, many more. Words chosen are simple common nouns, verbs, and adjectives. This paperback book edition welcomes in toddlers and preschoolers alike and includes a detailed back story to why each letter's partner from G's gazebo to P's plover means so much!
